You must have a current and valid full driver's licence to rent a car from us. If you have an International Driving Permit (IDP), you must also carry your current and valid driver's licence and a valid CRN (Customer Reference Number) registered in Australia. Admin fees applied if an Australian CRN is not provided towards Infringements nominations.

A bond is a security deposit we hold when you rent a vehicle. It helps cover any potential damages, fines, outstanding payments or contract breaches during your rental.

This can take up to 14 business days after the vehicle was returned. We must check outstanding payments of fines, tolls and condition of the vehicle.

A deposit prior to rental is used to secure your booking and reserve the vehicle for you. This amount is then applied toward your rental payment. Please note that if you decide to cancel your booking, you may lose this deposit.

  • In the event of an accident or theft involving a rented vehicle, you must report the incident to City Rentals Australia as soon as reasonably possible and no later than 24 hours after the incident has occurred. Failure to report within this time-frame may result in a Breach of the Rental Agreement and potential liability.
  • Exchange of Information. You are required to exchange relevant information with all other parties involved in the accident. This includes but is not limited to:
    • a) Full names, addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses of all drivers and involved parties;Full names, addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses of all drivers and involved parties;
    • b) Driver’s licence details for all drivers.
    • c) Vehicle details, including registration numbers and insurance details.
    • d) d) Photographic evidence capturing the position of the vehicles prior to being moved, damage to the vehicles, and the general area of the accident
  • If possible, obtain witness information (names, addresses, phone numbers, and emails), as their testimony may assist in the investigation

  • You Must take as many photographs as reasonably possible to document the scene of the accident and any damage to the vehicle. This evidence will be vital for any claims or disputes.
  • You must notify the police immediately if:
    • a) Any person has been injured in the accident;
    • b)The other party involved fails or has failed or is refusing to provide required details​;
    • c)The other party has left the scene of the accident without stopping;
    • d)You suspect that the other party is under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.
    • e)A driver with an impairment or disability requires police assistance.

We are committed to providing You with a vehicle that is of acceptable quality and in good working condition, considering the vehicle’s age. However, We acknowledge that breakdowns may occur despite our best efforts. To support You in such situations, We offer 24-hour roadside assistance, free of charge, if You select the Roadside Assistance Waiver during your Rental Period. If the waiver is not selected, We will still assist You; however, We are not liable to cover any expenses related to roadside assistance. Please note that this assistance covers breakdowns but does not extend to accidents.

Yes, you can add a second driver to your rental agreement. The additional driver must meet the same age and licence requirements as the primary driver. Simply provide their details when completing your booking, and they'll be authorised to drive the vehicle. Please note that adding a second driver may involve a small additional fee.

You are allowed to drive within the designated areas outlined in your rental agreement. Typically, this includes driving within the country or state of rental. For any interstate or international travel, please consult with our team to ensure compliance with our rental policies and any necessary arrangements. No Driving on Unsealed Road.

Yes, you can extend your rental period. Please contact our team at least 14 days prior to your rental expiry date in order to make the necessary arrangements and confirm the extension.

Yes, cancellation fees may apply depending on the timing of your cancellation. Please refer to our cancellation policy or contact our team for specific details.

If you return the vehicle late, additional charges may apply. We are here to assist you, please refer to your rental agreement or contact our team for specific details regarding late returns.

We accept various methods of payment, including major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express), debit cards, and bank transfers. Please contact our team if you have any specific questions regarding payment methods.

You can rent a car from the age of 21.

Yes, but they need to be added and accepted in the rental agreement before they drive the vehicle. Keep in mind charges may apply.

No, you cannot tow with our vehicles unless previously agreed upon in the contract.

City Rentals Australia’s Responsibilities:
  • Provide a roadworthy vehicle at the time of collection.
  • Repair any damages to the vehicle if these damages were not caused by the hirer’s negligence and if proper procedures for documenting and controlling damages were followed.
Hirer’s Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and maintain fluid levels throughout the rental period, including coolant and oil.
  • Inform City Rentals Australia immediately, and within 24 hours, if any unusual noises or malfunctions occur.

Subject to the Terms and Conditions, the following fees apply but are the following:

  • Additional Driver Fee: $3 per additional driver, per day.
  • Young Driver Fee: $2 per day for drivers under 25 years old.
  • Refuelling Fee: $30 if the vehicle is returned without a full tank of fuel.
  • Booking Processing Fee: $20 per booking.
  • Toll Management Fee: $3 per Toll.
  • Account Management Fee: $3 per week.
  • New Account set up Fee: $10 per set up.
  • Direct Debit Fee: $0.99 per transaction.
  • Direct Debit Account set up Fee: $2.20 per set up.
  • Direct Debit Decline Fee: $11 applicable when a credit/debit card or direct debit payment fails.
  • Declaration Fee: $10.
  • Unpaid or delayed infringement Administration Fee: $50 per infringement.
  • Fine Administration Fee for Non-Holding of CRN (Customer Reference Number): $50, applicable if an infringement notice is issued to an authorized driver who does not hold an Australian CRN.
  • Late Return Fee: $300 per day for each day the vehicle is not returned after the agreed rental period.
  • Vehicle Repossession Fee: $300 if the vehicle is repossessed due to a breach of the Rental Agreement.
  • Reduction of Rental Period Fee: $300 if the rental period is reduced.
  • Failure to Provide Fourteen (14) Days' Notice for Vehicle Return Fee: $200.
  • Failure to Provide Seven (7) Days' Notice for Vehicle Return Fee: $300.
  • Failed Payment Fee: $20 if a credit/debit card or direct debit payment fails.
  • Late Payment Administration Fee: To be determined for payments overdue by more than forty-eight (48) hours.
  • Unauthorized Disposal Fee: $1500 for selling, renting, leasing, or disposing of the vehicle without authorization.
